JVK PRO COURSE – STARTING IN OCTOBER

We promised big news by 1 September – here it is. From October we are launching our own course: we decided to share the knowledge gathered over 16 years of working with ECUs, diagnostics and chip tuning. We have invited an experienced specialist who will guide you from start to finish – from the first connection to a control unit to confident independent work. We start with a live stream.

WHO CAME TO US

Big SUVs and flagships

August was the month of big engines. The Mercedes GL 450 4MATIC with its 3.0 V6 BiTurbo set the absolute record: +146 hp and +320 Nm – torque went from 500 to 820 Nm. Alongside it a BMW X5 xDrive30d, an Audi Q7 3.0 TDI (+94 hp) and a BMW 730d – heavy cars where Stage 1 first of all removes the factory torque cap.

Commercial vehicles – the workhorses

Plenty of vans this month: an Opel Vivaro and a Renault Trafic with the same 2.0 dCi 90 hp engine delivered the same result – 147 hp and +63%. A VW Crafter gained 38%, a Multivan T6.1 39 hp. For commercial vehicles this is not about speed: it is about pulling power under load and lower consumption on the motorway.

In August BMW was the undisputed leader: 18 cars out of 50, more than a third of the flow. The German trio (BMW + Audi + Mercedes) accounts for 60% of all Stage 1 jobs. The remaining 9 cars come from 6 more makes: Opel, Nissan, Renault, Seat, Peugeot, Hyundai. 11 makes in total, 48 diesels and one petrol – that very GL 450.

MOST POWERFUL

Power is not the only metric. On modern turbo engines the factory caps torque to protect the gearbox, and Stage 1 first of all lifts exactly that limit. A telling example is the Mercedes GL 450: torque rose by 320 Nm (+64%), and the Audi A6 Avant Bi-Turbo gained 150 Nm. It is torque you feel under acceleration, not peak horsepower.
